PDSMM Fêtes Progressives, August 23

On August 23 the Progressive Democrats of the Santa Monica Mountains will bid farewell to Henry Waxman with its annual Courage Award, presented by Sup. Zev Yaroslavsky, and introduce Ted Lieu, our incoming Congressman. Awards will also go to the Theatricum Botanicum for their decades of support for progressive causes and to crusading journalist Robert Scheer, who has been speaking truth to power since his days as editor at Ramparts magazine.

Many more activists, elected officials and candidates will join us including our endorsed candidates: Sheila Kuehl, (a previous Courage Award winner), whose return to public service is a wish fulfilled for her many supporters as she bids for the office of 33rd District Supervisor to replace Zev Yaroslavsky; Betty Yee, Democratic candidate for Controller whose speech at the California Democratic Convention went viral; and Ben Allen, son of the West Side and PDSMM member, who is running for State Senate in the adjoining ASD 26, just south of Topanga. Many other notables will be in attendance.

The event is located at 21801 Saddle Peak Road, Topanga, CA 90290. Look for the Peace Man on the road. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. and program starts at 5 p.m. sharp.
