July Topanga Library Events


Thursday, July 17 at 10:30 a.m.—Sensory Exploration for Toddlers. Join us for a special program for toddlers that promotes learning and exploration through touch, sight, sound and scent. Please be prepared for a wet and messy morning! Ages 1-3 with parent/caregiver.

Thursday, July 17 at 4 p.m.—Kid’s Book Club. Join us as we discuss “The Luck Uglies” by Paul Durham, have a snack and create some art! Parents: refreshments will be served; a list of ingredients will be available at the program. Ages 9-12.

Thursday, July 17 at 6:30 p.m.—WordPress Meetup. All levels of users are invited to attend our monthly meetings to share, collaborate and discuss all things WordPress blogging.

Tuesday, July 22 at 4 p.m.—Teen Art: Upcycled CD Picture Frames. Decorate your own picture frame using recycled CDs! Perfect for yourself or as a gift. All materials will be provided. Ages 12-18.

Wednesday, July 23 at 3 p.m.—Animal Origami for Kids. Peggy Hasagawa will teach us how to make several super cute new animal friends using simple paper folding techniques. Ages 8 and up. Sponsored by the Friends of the Topanga Library.

Saturday, July 26 at 2 p. m.—“Summer Mountain” Haiku Workshop. A haiku is a three-line poem that can be said in one breath. At the “Summer Mountain”­ Haiku Workshop, attendees will learn about this wonderful Japanese form. One need not be a poet to attend—the only prerequisite is an openness to appreciate the world of nature and human foibles. Open to adults.

Wednesday, July 30 at 2 p.m.—Animal Art Exhibit. Have your art exhibited at the library and join us for a special reception! All you need to do is create a piece of animal art and submit it to the Library. Art will be on display from July 30-August 8, 2014. If you're interested, please call or visit and speak to a librarian for rules and an entry form. Submissions will be accepted until July 19, 2014. Open to ages 4-18.
