Adult Literacy Program Needs Tutors
June 5, 2014 -
The Los Angeles Public Library offers free tutoring to adult learners throughout the city. The West Valley communities of Woodland Hills, Canoga Park, Chatsworth and West Hills are served by the Adult Literacy Center at the Platt Branch located at 23600 Victory Blvd. in Woodland Hills. Tutors are volunteers who work one-on-one with their students to help them improve their basic reading and writing skills. Tutor training and all materials are provided at no charge by the library and tutors and students meet twice a week for a total of two to three hours per week. There is currently a waiting list of eager students, so please consider becoming a tutor.
To learn more about this excellent volunteer opportunity, please call Janis Risch, Adult Literacy Coordinator at the Platt Branch, (213) 623-4078, extension 16590. Better yet, please stop by to say Hello!
