Meet the New Library Manager, June 14

At 2 p.m. on June 14, Friends of the Topanga Library (FOTL) is sponsoring a Meet-and-Greet to welcome Oleg Kagan, who replaces Chase McMunn as the new Topanga Library Manager.

Kagan graduated in 2009 with a Masters in Library and Information Science from UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies. He has served in several capacities with the L. A. Public Library since 2003 and has received four Certificates of Appreciation for Outstanding Customer Service.

While he’ll continue what Chase was doing, Kagan says he has a lot of ideas for the library. For now, he says, “I’m meeting people and listening. There’s no point in bringing in random ideas until I see what’s happening and know what people want.”

BI-ANNUAL BOOK SALE

FOTL is also holding its bi-annual book sale that day. Members can start their shopping between 9 and 11 a.m.; the sale opens to the public from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hardbacks are two for $1; soft covers are four for $1; some are priced as marked. The store also sells book bags ($8) and everyone who joins FOTL at any level gets a free Topanga Library travel mug (a $5 value). All proceeds go to the Topanga library.

Meet Mr. Kagan, enjoy the refreshments and replenish your home library while supporting your library.

The Topanga Public Library is located at 122 N. Topanga Canyon Blvd., Topanga, CA 90290. For more information: friendsofthetopangalibrary@gmail.com.
