Gialanella’s large-scale paintings, "The Travelers’ New Clothes," depict life-size male and female figures based on TSA airport security Advanced Information Technology (AIT) body scans. These “full-body” scans are at the center of a heated debate over passenger safety and personal privacy. The AIT scans are being called intrusive and a virtual strip search.

The Art & Democracy V exhibition is returning to Greater Los Angeles after a three-month run in New York City.

Organized by the Visual Artists Guild and curated by Diana Wong, the show focuses on works that address issues concerning social justice, immigrant rights, freedom, global climate change, democratic struggles and civil liberties.

Included in the show are Gialanella’s large-scale paintings, "The Travelers’ New Clothes," that depict life-size male and female figures based on TSA airport security Advanced Information Technology (AIT) body scans.
