Travelscope® Wins Seven More Telly Awards

With 91 episodes of “Joseph Rosendo’s Travelscope” the show has been honored with seven more 2014 Telly Awards for: “Berlin and Western Poland—Over the Borderline,” Silver Telly, the highest honor; “Bhutan—Land of the Thunder Dragon,” Bronze Telly; “Taiwan Lantern Festival,” Bronze Telly; “Dreamin’ California’s Coast: From Malibu to Big Sur,” Bronze Telly (as well as a Eureka! Award in 2013); “San Miguel de Allende, Celebrating in the Heart of Mexico,” Bronze Telly; “Passage through Chile’s Tierra del Fuego around Cape Horn,” Bronze Telly; “Zermatt, Switzerland:Under the Shadow of the Matterhorn,” Bronze Telly;

"Unbelievable,” says Emmy-winning director, host and writer Joseph Rosendo and his producer wife, Julie Rosendo. “Seven more shining fellas to add to our Telly collection!”

In addition to the 2014 Telly Awards, Travelscope has been honored previously with twenty-two Telly Awards, bringing the Travelscope Telly total to twenty-nine. Travelscope has also won three National Emmys.

In 2013, the show took top honors with the 2012 Grand Prize Award in Visit California’s first-ever Eureka! Awards that honor outstanding editorial work by Golden State travel writers who showcase their passion for the California lifestyle.

“Who better to tell the state’s story than someone who lives and breathes the California lifestyle every day?” said Visit California President & CEO Caroline Beteta. “We wanted to celebrate the creative content developed by writers, bloggers and broadcast producers who are fully immersed in California’s unique culture and are eager to share how it has inspired them.”

In the “Dreamin’ California’s Coast – Malibu to Big Sur” episode, Joseph and Julie Rosendo are California Dreamin’ as they celebrate their anniversary along the state’s romantic coast. They join up with a coastal tour which begins in Southern California in their hometown of Topanga and then follows the golden state’s winding shoreline north to Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and to the edge of the Big Sur.

“The Dreamin’ California Coast episode is not only our love letter to each other, but to the state we love,” says Rosendo. “Thank you Visit California!”

The Telly Awards honor the very best television programs and commercials, as well as the finest video and film productions, and work created for the internet. Since 1979, its mission has been to strengthen the visual arts community by inspiring, promoting and supporting creativity. With nearly 11,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries, winning one Telly, much less seven, is truly an honor.

Presented by KQED and distributed to the Public Television system by American Public Television and internationally by Janson Media, Travelscope’s 91 episodes are also available on Amazon Instant Video.
