Chamber Announces 2014 Community Volunteer Opportunities

 

Dianne Porchia, 2014-2015 president of the Topanga Chamber of Commerce, urges residents to get out their calendars and plan now for the many community volunteer-supported events that will be happening between now and September.

Topanga Farmers’ Market, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. —The first Friday of every month is an opportunity for community organizations and local entrepreneurs to meet the public and invite them to support their organization. Located at the Inn of the Seventh Ray parking lot.

Earth Day, April 19 & 20, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.— Volunteers are given one free admission per shift. The event needs six people for each three-hour shift: 10-1; 12-3; 3–6. (topangaearthday.org)

Topanga Days, May 24 – 26, 10 a.m.- 6 p.m.—Volunteers are given one free admission per shift. The event needs six people for each three-hour shift: 10-1; 12-3; 3–6.

Topanga Film Festival, August (Date TBD)—This open-air boutique festival receives entries from around the world, showcasing a broad range of short films, documentaries, animation, drama, comedy, experimental and trans-format. Held over a span of three to four days. Volunteers are given one-day free admission. For more information: facebook.com/topangafilmfestival. Coordinated thru Bruce and Theresa Royer.

First Annual Healing Arts & Business Fair, September (Date TBD)—Sponsored by the Topanga Chamber of Commerce is an opportunity for home-based healing arts professionals and businesses to have a booth at one of two or three locations: Jalan Jalan (healing arts professionals); Pine Tree Circle (home-based services); and Ribbit Tree, now Old Canyon Ranch (non-profits). Cost: TBD.
