Free CERT Emergency Training Classes through Feb. 20, 2014

 

Brad Davis, Emergency Services Coordinator for the City of Malibu, in collaboration with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, is conducting the next series of free Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) training classes.

While these classes began on January 9, those interested may attend the remaining classes and make up ones that were missed at a later date.

This is important disaster preparedness training for the whole community that takes place at Malibu City Hall for a series of seven Wednesday or Thursday evening classes. Anyone who previously attended CERT training but missed a class can make it up here to graduate and receive their CERT backpack. The schedule is as follows:

Thurs. Jan. 9— Disaster Preparedness overview

Thurs., Jan. 16—Fire Suppression

Wed., Jan. 22—Disaster Medical Triage & Rescue

Thurs., Jan. 30—First Aid and Medical Organization

Thurs., Feb. 6—Light Search & Rescue

Thurs. Feb. 13—Team Organization, Disaster Psychology & Terrorism

Thurs., Feb. 20—Disaster Simulation exercise & Graduation

Classes are held at Malibu City Hall, 23825 Stuart Ranch Road, Malibu, from 6-8:30 p.m. and all classes must be attended in order to graduate. Upon completion, participants receive a free beginner’s backpack of emergency gear.

Again, you may attend current classes and make up missed classes at a later date.
