Friends of the Topanga Library (FOTL) volunteers, (l-r) Jenni Klemp, David Ecklund, President Victoria Charles and Ann Marshall were kept busy all day Saturday, December 14, assisting shoppers looking for the bargain of the year at FOTL’s BIG book sale of hundreds of gently used books, DVDs and CDs that filled the Library’s Community Room. Hardbacks were selling two for $1, soft covers were four for $1 and others were priced as marked. All proceeds go to the library to fund adult and children’s programs and materials. At the end of the day, FOTL president Victoria Charles was pleased that the sale brought in $700, exceeding their goal of $500.

“We could have used more volunteers for the sale but especially for the day-to-day running of the FOTL bookstore,” said Rose Wiley, who volunteered as soon as the library opened and FOTL was up and running. Those interested must commit to a regular shift of two hours to sit in the store, sell books, accept donations, provide information and assist with events such as the book sale. The shop also sells FOTL signature items such as book bags and mugs. For more information or to volunteer, contact FriendsoftheTopangaLibrary@gmail.com, or drop by the shop just outside of the main entrance.
