Chamber Elects 2014 Board Members, Names 2013 Awardees


Dianne Porchia, MA, DMBM, Porchia's WISH and Passing Performance will lead the Topanga Chamber of Commerce (TCoC) Board of Directors through 2014-2015.

Doubling as Professional Development and Mixer Chair, I look forward to hearing your ideas and working together. I welcome the opportunity to lead our Chamber to the next level of success, furthering goals of creating work and life in balance in Topanga where residents, nature and business thrive naturally.”

D.J. Nellis, of Essentials for Living, will fill in as Temporary Vice President; Ron Kramer, CPA and entertainment business manager, is Treasurer; Laura Rose, Certified Hospice and Paliative Care RN at Anam Cara, steps into the position of Recording Secretary; Mitch Metzner, Ph.D. of Anam Cara, takes the post of Communications Chair; Karen Morgan of Morgan Search International, becomes Advertising Chair; Membership Chair is Mary Guillerman, LMFT with a private practice in the Canyon; Events Chair is Yorit Tal of Oak Creek Ranch; Bonnie Morgan moves into the role of Social Media Chair; and 2013 president Joseph Rosendo takes on a new role as Community Liaison Chair. Congratulations to all! In 2013, the TCoC was instrumental in working with the County, Caltrans, the Topanga Creek Watershed Committee and other community organizations concerned about the spraying of herbicides along Topanga Canyon Blvd. Working throughout most of the year, they found alternative solutions such as the recent application by Caltrans of applying mulch along the road to keep weeds down and mitigate the danger of fires.


The Chamber has set its 65th Awards Dinner for Saturday, April 5, honoring its 2013 awardees: Citizen of the Year: Zev Yaroslavsky, L.A. County Board of Supervisors;Youth Business of the Year: Lucy's Bake Shop; Non-Profit of the Year: Topanga Association for a Scenic Community (TASC).


The Chamber holds its breakfast meeting the second Wednesday of every month from 8-9:45 a.m., at the Inn of the Seventh Ray, 128 Old Topanga Canyon Rd, $3 for coffee and muffins, $6 for a hot breakfast, $9 for both. Evening mixers are held the last Wednesday of the month,
