Fond Memories of Eve Penner
September 19, 2013 -
It was a privilege to move up the street on Grandview in 1983 and have Eve Penner as a neighbor for some 30 years. She had the fortitude of a pioneer woman when the downpours threatened her property. Out there with shovel and pick, in knee-high rubber boots, she only reluctantly let my husband help her as she turned 70+. She was unfazed, plain spoken and funny, with a Southern Lady aspect. She was a study in contrasts.
It was a deep pleasure to be her neighbor for so long and experience her unique and very Topanga spirit. She is an enduring part of our terrain, never to be forgotten.
