Topanga TimSurvival TipsIs It A Shock?
September 5, 2013 -
I was celebrating the end of summer with my neighbors when I noticed a commotion and saw my friend Horseshoe Hillary lying on the ground. Someone said she fell. Luckily, my CERT training kicked in. I remembered the little rhyme that helps us recognize and treat signs of shock30, 2, Can-do. I calmly told Fernwood Fred to call 9-1-1 and when Hillary failed the Can-do test (she was unable to follow a simple command), I knew she might be in shock. CERT taught me what to do while we waited for the paramedics.
Everyone at the party vowed to take the CERT training so theyd be prepared for an emergency too. Oh, Sally recovered and is doing fine.
Topanga CERT is offering the FREE training on four Saturdays in November. For more information or to sign up, e-mail Scott Ferguson at topangaCERT@verizon.net or call him at (310) 455-1413.
Topanga Tim is brought to you by the Topanga Emergency Management Plan as a public service.
