The Free Hands Academy presents Stick Night Bel-Air, a showcase of five of America's finest Chapman Stick players on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the American Jewish University located at 15600 Mulholland Dr., Los Angeles, CA (310-476-9777; aju.edu), starting at 7 p.m. A $10 donation is suggested.
The event will feature live performances by five different stick players, including Emmett Chapman himself. Each performer will have 10 minutes to perform a solo set. At 8 p.m., Dan Chapmans work-in-progress documentary about Emmett Chapmans life work, entitled Emmett, will be screened followed by a Q&A with the director. At 9 p.m., additional performances by Navid Ardakani on Santur; Patrick Hildebrand on ukulele; and Mavis on drums, will play a final round of music.
