Joining in Theatricum Botanicums 40th Anniversary celebration, Botanicum Seedlings: A Development Series for Playwrights will present free readings of two new plays, The Three Es by Jason Aaron Goldberg, directed by Sara Wagner; and The Ansel Intimacy by Vincent Delaney, directed by Caitlin Hart, on Aug. 25 and Sept. 1, respectively.
Sponsored by Topanga Canyon Certified Farmers' Market, both playreadings feature live entertainment by Seedlings guest artists: musician and environmental advocate Skylar Funk, visual artist Zach Brown and videographer Allen Barstow.
Playreadings are presented in the intimate, outdoor S. Mark Taper Foundation Pavilion.
In The Three Es, the Dunn family struggles to come to terms with middle son Emmetts injuries after he is wounded in Iraq. The war comes home in this touching, often humorous portrait of perseverance in the face of tragedy. Show time: Sunday, Aug. 25 at 11 a.m.
The Ansel Intimacy creates a possible future, where Tate receives Ansel, a factory-made being with a set of spare organs and parts, for his sixteenth birthday. We follow their developing relationship over a lifetime of love and loss. Show time: Sunday, Sept. 1 at 11 a.m.
