Dark Shadows Author Launches Book Tour, Aug. 20

Long-time Topangan and actress Lamar Hawkins, aka Lara Parker who played Angelique in the original TV series, Dark Shadows, will launch a nationwide book tour with the publication of her third Dark Shadows book, Wolf Moon Rising.

For the thousands of fans who follow Dark Shadows eventsamong them director Tim Burton, Quentin Tarantino, pop singer Madonna and Johnny Depp, who portrayed Barnabas Collins in the 2012 film adaptation directed by BurtonParkers first book signing will take place August 20 at Barnes & Noble at The Grove (189 The Grove Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90036, (323) 900-8080).
The tour then takes her to San Diego, San Francisco and Portland, to her hometown of Memphis, TN and New York City, ending in Burbank, CA, at Dark Delicacies bookstore (3512 W. Magnolia, Burbank, CA 91505) on September 14.

In 1966, upon completing all course work for a Masters in Speech and Drama at the University of Iowa but before writing her thesis, Parker signed on to play five leading roles in summer stock at the Millbrook Playhouse in Lock Haven, PA. After the summer season ended, she chose to move to New York where she was cast as Angelique, a role she would play for the next five years. In 1972, she moved to Los Angeles and Topanga when she was cast in the film, Save the Tiger, starring Jack Lemmon.

The gothic soap opera, which ran from 1966 to 1971 and produced 1,225 episodes, has since aired in syndication for nearly 40 years. It was the creation of Dan Curtis, prolific director and producer of television and film, and stands as a precursor of todays vampire-, witch- and zombie-themed films and TV productions.
Dark Shadows continues to enjoy an intense cult following.
