Friends of Library Seeks Volunteers

Friends of the Topanga Library is seeking volunteers to operate the Topanga Library bookstore selling donated gently-used books, CDs, DVDs and memberships.

This is an ongoing, weekly responsibility. A six-month commitment is preferred, although summer opportunities are available. The shifts are a minimum of two hours in duration. Duties include sorting and shelving books as inventory arrives; cashiering; greeting and engaging the public. Retail or customer service experience is preferred but not required. A warm, personable, outgoing personality is a must.

Our goal is to have the bookstore operate during all library open hours, including evenings and weekends. Short-term, one-time or occasional volunteers are also needed to help sort books in the storage shed, especially before, during and after sales events.

In its effort to connect students and community through service, these positions are open to teenagers and family volunteers. This is a great opportunity for those interested in service but unable to make a weekly commitment. Bookstore volunteers have the opportunity to participate in the Friends of the Library newsletter, Facebook page and represent the Friends at sponsored library events.

For a volunteer form stop in the store. For more information: Friendsofthetopangalibrary@gmail.com.
