Leona Saak Hydinger—1923-2013

Cedar Falls, Iowa—Leona Saak Hydinger, 90, of Bickford Cottage, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013. She was born January 10, 1923, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Algo and Ruth (Grout) Saak. She graduated from T.C. High School in 1943 and moved to Santa Monica shortly after. She was employed at Douglas Air Craft for 35 plus years. She married Clyde W. Hydinger June 18, 1949, who died March 5, 2004. She is survived by daughter, Barbara Jo (Leonard) Long of Grants Pass, OR; two grandchildren, JoAnn L. (Alan) Courtney of Grants Pass, OR; and Michael (Gretchen) Bishman of Orange, CA; five great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; two sisters, Bea Ballestaros of Paso Robles, CA; and Glendora Ginder of LaJolla, CA; one brother, AJ (Bev) Saak of Cedar Falls; and thirteen nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Joe Ballestaros and Joe Ginder. Public visitation took place at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls. Graveside services were held March 9 at the Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary in Colton, CA. Memorial contributions may be directed to Bickford Cottage or Allen Memorial Hospital Hospice.
