A multimedia presentation by author Philip Goldberg becomes a Magical Mystery Tour of the Beatles’ mind-blowing, world-changing spiritual journey with their yogi, Maharishi, and the music it inspired.

The evening promises a musical Mod Mania sing-along of Beatles' Classics, meditation with Maharishi and the Maha Mantra.

“In February, 1968, the Beatles went to India for an extended stay with their new guru, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. It may have been the most momentous spiritual retreat since Jesus spent those forty days in the wilderness.”

So begins Philip Goldberg’s award-winning book, “American Veda.” With the help of photos, recordings, seldom-seen videos and live music, Goldberg’s presentation will illuminate the forces that led to that watershed moment when East met West and the world learned about meditation, mantras and a whole new way of understanding life.

As George Harrison put it, “For every human it is a quest to find the answer as to ‘Why are we here? Who am I? Where did I come from? Where am I going?’ To me, that became the only important thing in my life. Everything else is secondary.”

Everyone is invited to sing along to celebrate the Beatles as ambassadors of spiritual wisdom. Journey from the set of Help! to the banks of the Ganges to “Let it Be” and “My Sweet Lord;” learn new things about the lads from Liverpool and find fresh meaning in familiar songs. Music will be led by Andrew Behla, Michèle Krolik, Jeffrey Ainis and Dean Childers. A goodwill offering is gratefully accepted.

January 26, 7-9 p.m., at Yoga Desa, located at 120 N. Topanga Canyon Blvd., Topanga, CA 90290.
