City Hearts, the non-profit organization founded by Sherry and Bob Jason, has been bringing the arts to inner city children for twenty-eight years. A few months ago, local Topanga teens gathered to create a junior board for this organization that they all care deeply about.
The City Hearts junior boards goal is to help raise money for City Hearts as well as assist the City Hearts main board. So far the junior board has begun a ballet shoe drive for City Hearts children participating in dance classes, volunteered at the recent City Hearts photography fundraiser, and planned their first major event The Sugar Plum Tea.
The Sugar Plum Tea, a celebration of the Nutcracker ballet and the holiday season, is set to take place at the home of City Hearts board member Scott Sykes and his wife Mai on Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. This fun event will include afternoon tea, cookie decorating, a silent auction, and most importantly a visit from some very special people.
Clara, the Sugar Plum Fairy and their friends will drop by and perform dances from the Nutcracker during the tea. Afterwards, attendees can get pictures with the dancers and bid on auction items. The Sugar Plum Tea is recommended for children ages 3-10 who must be accompanied by an adult. Dress up is optional but encouraged. Tickets cost $30 for children, $35 for adults and $85 for two kids and one adult and are available to buy onlineatcityhearts.org or by phone at (310) 455-2898.
All proceeds go directly to benefit the City Hearts programs. Tickets are limited so it is recommended you purchase them in advance. Hope to see you at the tea.
