32nd Topanga Nutcracker Ballet, Dec. 7, 8, 9

Ballet for Topanga celebrates it’s 32nd annual production of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker ballet with Fri & Sat evening performances and a Sunday matinee.

Tchaikovsky never would have imagined the amazing popularity of his singular Nutcracker Suite, first performed as a Ballet on December 18, 1892 at the Maryinsky Theatre of St. Petersburg, Russia. Every year since then, the ballet continues to inspire and entertain millions of enthusiasts all over the world.

Ballet for Topanga’s own production is a Canyon favorite with special focus on family and fun. Moms and Dads dance with their daughters and everyone has a wonderful time telling the story of Clara and her nutcracker.

This year’s 32nd annual production of the Topanga Nutcracker Ballet takes place on Friday, December 7 and Saturday, December 8 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 9 at 2 p.m. All tickets are $15 and the performances are at the Community House.

This year, special guest Eryk Escobar (a newly-minted attorney) takes the lead as the Nutcracker/Prince and shares the Snow King role with Ballet for Topanga’s co-director, Bob Jason. Eryk will also be doing the Russian Dance this year and the man’s solo from Tarantella.

Molly Davis, who has studied with Sherry Jason and Ballet for Topanga since she was three, is now a graduating Senior and will reprise her role as Sugar Plum Fairy and Snow Queen.

Saisha Brody, another former “Little One,” will dance Arabian Queen again and her first time as Sugar Plum.

Brynn Lowry and Amelia Lampard will be Clara and Taylor Fisher will be the lead Ballerina Doll and share the roles of Spanish and Arabian Queens.

Rehearsals are going very well. The new group of “little ones” are learning all the parts and having a wonderful time. All of the students are working their hardest, learning the lessons of dedication, hard work, commitment and inspiration.

Don’t miss this fabulous Canyon favorite. Get your tickets early as this Nutcracker sells out every year. You can purchase your tickets at Mimosa Café, Canyon Gourmet at Pine Tree Circle, or from any cast member. For more information: (310) 455-3939.
