TFI Presents The English Surgeon, Friday, Oct. 26

Topanga Film Institute will present The English Surgeon, a documentary about the life of visiting English neurosurgeon Henry Marsh doing charitable work in the Ukraine.

The Topanga Film Institute (TFI) continues showing great films throughout the year at the Topanga Library with their Final Fridays series. On Friday, October 26 at 7 p.m., they will present The English Surgeon.

Winner of numerous awards, this documentary offers a glimpse into the life of an English neurosurgeon (Henry Marsh) who commits himself to do charitable work in the Ukraine after delivering a speech in that former Soviet satellite where he discovered the appalling state of its hospitals. Hotdocs calls it: “Tense, heartbreaking and humorous. An extraordinary documentary.”

Final Fridays screenings continue through November (film to be announced), and in December TFI holds its Youth Salon, where filmmakers from 10 to 16 submit content that will be shown at the Topanga Library on December 28. Q & A sessions are usually held before and after the film.

The English Surgeon screens on Friday, Oct. 26, at the Topanga Library, 122 N. Topanga Canyon Blvd., 90290 at 7 p.m, To R.S.V.P. or for more information: wpb@topangafilmfestival.com; or friend us on Facebook.
