The Baba Yaga Players troupe of actors and musicians perform “The Frog Princess,” at the Santa Monica Bay Woman’s Club on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 11 a.m.

The musical play is based on a Russian fairy tale adapted by Topanga resident Keith Bilderbeck. Tina Sanchez stars as Elena the Fair and a child from the audience will be chosen to play the frog.

Prince Ivan loses an archery contest and must marry a frog. Taunted and humiliated by his brothers, Ivan makes a tragic mistake. He must outwit Baba Yaga the Witch and Baron Bulat to regain his love. The show is best suited for children ages four to 10 and their families. Children under two years old are free.

Playwright and composer Keith Bilderbeck won the NAPPA Gold Award and the Award of Excellence from the Film Advisory Board for his recording of “The Firebird,” a musical play based on a Russian fairy tale. He has received excellent reviews for “The Fountain of Youth” and “The Firebird” from publications such as Booklist, Publishers Weekly and The School Library Journal.

The Santa Monica Bay Woman’s Club is located at 1210 Fourth Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401. Tickets are $10 at the door. Find more information at BabaYaga.com.
