New Books and Presentation by Artist Megan Rice, July 19 and Aug. 16
DRAWING BY MEGAN RICE Topanga artist, Megan Rice, will present a slideshow presentation and reading from her self-published artist books at two separate events at the Topanga Library.
Visual artist and writer, Megan Rice, widely known for her papier mache sculpture installations at the Topanga Library, will conduct two presentations of her self-published artist books on July 19 and August 16.
The presentations will include a slide show and excerpted readings by Rice, followed by a book signing. Admission is free and both events begin at 7 p.m. A percentage of all sales will go to The Friends of The Library.
Thursday, July 19, will feature Teen Scream, a book of drawings, sculptures and journal narrative reflecting the tumultuous, rollercoaster years of her daughter's adolescence. Humorous and poignant, this work captures this universally challenging chapter in family life.
Parents of teens may be especially interested in attending, says Rice.
Thursday, August 16, will focus on Rices newest book entitled New York Artist Residency 2011. This book combines drawings, sculptures and journal narrative produced last October during a months sojourn at the rural campus of The New York Art Students League. It centers upon creativity, uncertainty, collaboration and new materials and may be of particular interest to artists.
The events take place in the Librarys Community Room, 122 N. Topanga Canyon Blvd., Topanga, CA 90290. For more information: (310) 455-2901; megan.rice@verizon.net.
