After Holbein Praise of Folly, by Dr. Terry Marks-Tarlow, chair of LACPA art exhibition, “Mirrors of the Mind.”

Terry Marks-Tarlow, Ph.D., Topanga resident and a clinical psychologist practicing in Santa Monica, is also chair of the Community Outreach Committee of the Los Angeles County Psychological Association (LACPA) that has put out a call for artists and performers for its upcoming art exhibition on September 29 and 30, entitled “Mirrors of the Mind: The Psychotherapist as Artist.” Both a gallery and small theater will provide the space to highlight psychologically minded art.

An art gallery, Gus Harper Gallery, plus a small theater are available for all varieties of multimedia, visual and performance art. All art must be psychologically themed and/or psychologically meaningful. Art submitted must be original, and include an artist statement.

For a Prospectus, including artist guidelines, rules for submission and to download a registration form, go to the LACPA website at www.lapsych.org. E-mail all submissions to Jeffrey Jessum, PhD, (drjeff1234 @sbcglobal.net), by Sunday, August 5, 2012. Criteria for selection is based on artistic value, psychological significance, and originality.

Marks-Tarlow will be curating the exhibit. “I look forward to drawing upon the amazing artistic talent in Topanga,” she says. If you have questions or for more information, contact her at (310) 458-3418; markstarlow@hotmail.com; or www.markstarlow.com.
