PDSMM Endorses Torie Osborn for Assembly

Torie Osborn is running for CA State Assembly in the new 50th Assembly District.

The Progressive Democrats of the Santa Monica Mountains (PDSMM) joins two former Assemblywomen, Sheila Kuehl and Julia Brownley as well as former State Senator Tom Hayden in endorsing Torie Osborn for Assembly in the new 50th Assembly District, a new open district with no incumbent.

The PDSMM is also joined in this endorsement by other Democratic Clubs in the district except one that didn’t endorse either candidate. Endorsement requires 60 percent of the votes.

PDSMM found that Osborn’s credentials as an MBA, a community organizer, a community college teacher and a fighter for equal rights, job creation and economic opportunity, put her ahead of the other candidates.

“With her MBA, Osborn is uniquely qualified to help solve the budget problems that have continued to plague the state,” said PDSMM president Dorothy Reik. “As a community organizer, not a politician, she has learned to bring people together to achieve results—something sorely lacking in Sacramento. She will also help us preserve our open space.

“We constantly decry the lack of candidates who will represent us in Sacramento, candidates who live in the real world, the one we inhabit. We have one now in Torie Osborn and we urge you to vote for her,” Reik said.
