With You In Spirit

Dear Editor:

A year has passed and we will soon be upon another Memorial Day. I just wanted to pass on to Cub Scout Pack 24 and the entire Topanga Canyon community for the warm hospitality showed towards my sister, Janet, and myself last year. No words can truly represent just how special that day was to us. For that short period our Father, Lt. John Robert Caskey was with us again.

I, like many others I suspect, looked at Memorial Day as the third day off of a 3-day weekend. Having lost a Father in war, I have felt some shame for that outlook. But no more, thanks to Pack 24 and your community. I now realize that honoring not only our fallen but remembering those that have served and will be serving in the future is equally important!

I know Janet and I will be with you in spirit every Memorial Day to come. THANK YOU all so very much for what you have given us, something that can NEVER be taken away and that can be passed on to the generations of Caskey's and Pedersen's to come!
