Seeds Today ... Wildflowers Tomorrow

Dear Editor:

Our last minute rainy season thankfully blessed us with an abundance of wildflowers this year. Even so, the dwindling numbers and varieties (supposedly there used to be over 100 types) have been an ongoing concern —but there is something we can all do to help save them.

Don’t cut them down. Don’t pull them out. Don’t whack them to smithereens before they go to seed. This may mean leaving some areas for a later weed-whack, or giving wildflowers on your property a little extra TLC to make sure we can enjoy their offspring in years to come.

Thank you for valuing what makes Topanga special.
