Topanga Tim’s Survival Tips: 911

Fernwood Fred lives up the hill not far from Fire Station 69. In his mind if he needs help he’ll just give the station a call. As he learned at a recent community meeting, that’s a really bad idea as the firemen may be out on a call and it actually slows down their response time to an emergency. When he calls 911 from home, the call goes to Lost Hills Sheriff Station. He should say if it is a fire or medical emergency and answer the questions posed by the dispatcher. As they talk, the appropriate agency will most likely be on its way. Station 69 is happy to take non - emergency inquiries, but all emergency calls should be directed to 911. Good thing to remember, as one gets rattled during an emergency situation.

“Topanga Tim” is brought to you by the Topanga Emergency Management Plan as a public service.
