Tiffany Jones and Teya Wolvington perform Eternal Encounter, one of three dances performed May 5 at the Topanga Library.

The Topanga Public Library hosts Benita Bike’s DanceArt Company in an interactive dance performance on Saturday, May 5, at 2 p.m. This is a FREE performance.

The performance is an opportunity to discover how dances are made and how dance artists train, work, and create. There will be numerous opportunities for audience members to interact with artists.

Benita Bike’s DanceArt is known for its elegant performance and dramatic use of space and gesture to make sensitive observations on life. Bike’s choreography stands at the crossroads of past and present, blending the music and sensibilities of the past with evocative contemporary movement.

For 31 seasons this company has performed from the California coast to New England and abroad, bringing both concert dance and unique interactive outreach performances to audiences large and small.

The program features three dances, “Currents and Eddies,” that is set to guitar music by Lou Harrison and takes its cue from the different movements of water; “Entrelazadas,” that delicately traces the relationships of three women and is set to Spanish vocal and guitar music; and “Eternal Encounter,” a fable with Good and Evil encountering one another repeatedly throughout time.

For program information, call (310) 455-3480 or (818) 353-5734 or visit www.danceart.org. The library is located at 122 N. Topanga Canyon Blvd., Topanga, CA 90290.
