Ballet for Topanga brings its 29th production of "The Nutcracker" to the Community House on December 11 and 12 at 7:30 p.m. and December 13 at 2 p.m. With Sherry Jason at the helm it is a tightly run ship. Highlights that I look forward to include Mother Ginger and her tumblers, the dance of the Snowflakes, and the tear- tugging Pas de Papa. This year's handsome group of Party Guests and cordial Cousins bring lots of Yuletide cheer.
The irrepressible Naughties and any of the three lovely ballerinas who dance the part of Clara are also a thrill to behold.
I have always loved the down-home feel coupled with the professional intent Ballet for Topanga's dancers bring to the Nutcracker production. The promise of hot chocolate at intermission, seeing familiar faces in the limelight, and that there will be snow ensures performances sell out. Tickets are available for $13 again this year. They are for sale at Mimosa Café, Canyon Gourmet, and by cast members, or call (310) 455-3939.
