Correction: In my article of April 19, [“Questioning Accepted ‘Green’ Wisdom: Global Climate Change and Common Sense”] I made a numerical mistake. The sea level is rising at 1-2 mm/year (0.08 inches per year, or eighty thousandths of an inch per year), not 0.1-0.2 mm/year as I stated. I am happy to make this correction, for as a scientist, seeking the truth and letting the public know about it is my job. Finding an error means I learned something new and setting the record straight is the right thing to do. This numerical error (a transcription error from a scientific journal) does not change the basic point of my article: until we understand why our climate is changing, we should neither pass laws based on incomplete knowledge nor fear the change until we really understand it. And we should also recognize that climate change can occur regardless of what we humans do.
