"No Subtitles Necessary" and classic film "Easy Rider" open 6th Annual Topanga Film Festival.
On the same day that the Messenger hit the stands [July 15] with a correction for having mistakenly identified noted Topangan documentarian James Chressanthis as previously winning an Emmy® award for his film, "No Subtitles Necessary: Lazlo & Vilmos," the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced a third nomination for the film. This time, in the category of Outstanding Arts & Culture Programming.
Chryssanthis's film, "No Subtitles" with share the opening night bill of the Sixth Annual Topanga Film Festival with the classic film, "Easy Rider," starring Dennis Hopper, on August 19.
The Topanga Film Festival (TFF)now in its sixth yearis dedicated to the exhibition of independent and experimental film, and in 2010, has expanded its focus to promotion of film and trans-format digital content. The festival endeavors to bridge cultures, create and expand community, provide cultural exchange, networking opportunities and educational outreach.

The Messenger wishes all TFF entrants success and will be rooting for James Chressanthis when the Emmys are presented on Monday, September 27, at a ceremony at Frederick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, located in the Time Warner Center in New York City.

Pricing: All Access Pass, $150 (all events, including the Mountain Mermaid); $100 for Tent All Access Pass; and $50 Mountain Mermaid All Access Pass. Individual events are $10 per screening (children under 12 free); $40 for Mountain Mermaid panels and networking event; $20 for Mountain Mermaid gala; and $20 for the Trust Ranch Big Night.
• Thursday, August 19, 2010: Screening tent (all day starting at 12 Noon); pre-opening night screening of No Subtitles Necessary: Lazlo & Vilmos; Opening Night honoring Dennis Hopper with a screening of Easy Rider at Abuelita's.
• Friday, August 20, 2010: Screening tent (all day starting at 2 p.m. after farmers' market); International Networking Day at the Mountain Mermaid.
• Saturday, August 21, 2010: Screening tent (all day starting at 11 a.m.); The International Short Film Competition at Trust Ranch. Door opens at 6 p.m. and screening 8:30 p.m.
• Sunday, August 22, 2010: Screening tent (all day starting at 11 a.m.) with Youth Salon to start at 11 a.m. for up to a two hour slot, followed by other screenings. The Awards Ceremony will be held at Froggy's from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by Topanga's Best of Fest until 10 p.m.
